Courtney Keiser is a Reiki master practitioner trained in the Usui Reiki Ryoho treatment

  • Rei means universal and also refers the spiritual dimension and the soul.

Ki refers to the vital life force energy which flows through all things.

Together it translates as “universal life-force energy and “spiritual enlightenment”. The Japanese characters unify to symbolize the universal dimensions of spirit and soul coming together within the self, which awakens us to our divine wholeness.

  • As balanced life force energy, Reiki works with our being at the quantum level of subatomic matter where our energy always seeks to express in balance and harmony.

Therefore, it can never do harm and it can vitalize all forms of life.

Because it is simply the balanced vibration from Source, Reiki will not conflict with any other type of therapy, including medical treatments or medications.

When medical treatment is necessary, Reiki can help to speed healing and recovery.

In the absence of tangible illness or distress, Reiki can be used regularly as an excellent preventive tool to keep us healthy.

  • It is foremost a process for self-healing and personal growth. Taken to its highest potential, Reiki is a way of life.

The hands-on therapeutic process used for “Reiki treatments” (touch is only used with consent if the practitioner sees it would be helpful) is based on the recognition that true health and healing involves all aspects of our being- physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

It is first a method for self-healing and a method of facilitating our ongoing evolution toward self-mastery. The more we continue to heal ourselves at all levels, the more effectively we can facilitate greater degrees of healing in others.

Reiki is simply an energy healing system used to bring an individual into harmony with the divine perfection of his/her self. This is done by connecting with the loving, balanced Source of life-whatever you believe Source to be.

  • Situations where Reiki is appropriate for an animal:

    1. If he/she is ill, injured, or recovering from surgery or invasive medical procedures- it can provide comfort and help boost natural healing processes.

    2. If he/she has been traumatized or unusually stressed- may include any type of abuse, neglect, loss of a companion (human or animal), visits to the vet, move to a new place, life or family changes, has been in a shelter, or has been in a fight with another animal.

    3. General preventive care- Maintaining an energetic balance with regular treatments can contribute toward keeping pets healthy both physically and emotionally.

    4. If he/she exhibits behavioral problems or acts fearful, anxious, aggressive, depressed, etc. - Reiki has an excellent means of helping animals overcome behavioral issues that can develop as a result of trauma, abandonment, abuse, etc.

    5. End of life comfort- Reiki is excellent for helping animals to cross over more easily and comfortably when this is appropriate for them. It is also important in helping you or the animal’s companions (human or animal) to manage grief that accompanies this process.
